In dieser Nacht hat Sony das Geheimnis um die PlayStation 3 gelüftet und in einer Präsentation die ersten Bilder der Konsole veröffentlicht.
Sony verfolgt das gleiche Ziel wie Microsoft und zwar eine Multimediaplattform für das Wohnzimmer. Besonderheiten der neuen PlayStation ist die reine Rechenleistung, de sich bei einem Supercomputer einordnen lässt und angeblich die doppelte Performance der Xbox 360 erreicht.
Für ein umfangreiches Spieleangebot sorgt die Abwärtskompatibilität bis zur PSOne. Zukünftig wird man mit bis zu sieben Leute an der Konsole spielen können, denn per Bluetooth lassen sich diese Anzahl an kabellosen Controllern nutzen.
Das Gerät soll im Frühjahr 2006 erscheinen. Ein Preis ist noch nicht bekannt.
